Steps to get this done on Rasberry Pi are very similar to normal architecture, however keep in mind that variety of software is limited, because raspberry is ARMv6 architecture using device, while your laptop or desktop computer is mostly i386 or amd64 architecture and software needs to be made for each architecture. Any way, in order to complete this you will need:

Rasbperry Pi
SD Card which is bigger then 2GB (because in this tutorial we will burn image to SD and then expand it in order fully utilize it)
USB Keyboard
USB Mouse
Ethernet Cable
HDMI cable and monitor
Working Linux computer

Arch releases are really rare thing. Currently it is almost one year old. In their website there is no link to new download for some reason, but it is their FTP. All who wanna test it out HERE is the link.

Kolibri is a small x86 assembler operating system. It is very fast and even much smaller then you could think. Official website is HERE. Although you won’t be able to run Windows or Linux software, still you will be able to do quite a lot with it and with incredible speed.

Recently I was searching for OS, which would by easy to use for new users, and as well low on system requirements (more likely OS for netbook and old hardware). EasPeasy was what I have found. It is Linux OS, based on Ubuntu 10.04 and GNOME 2.30.2, but it has some neat launcher, which is always visible on desktop. Also you can easily access your favorited applications and places in file manager.

If you want to try or read more go to their website EasyPeasy or to DistroWatch
